Knowing What Is Important

The Christmas and New Year holidays are over.
2019 is underway.
In the Asia Pacific region and indeed globally, others are currently celebrating the Lunar New Year – a time of ‘reconnecting’ with family and friends, completing the old year of the Mountain Dog, and welcoming in the year of the ‘Monastic’ Pig!

The New Year is a time when you to clear out what you do not want to take forward with you before the Full Moon, and then connect with who and what is important to you before the energies of the ‘new’ year begin.

In other words, it is a time to “Reset” and the Asian countries that acknowledge this holiday see it as an important thing to do every year.

For my part, it seems to make more sense to start with the Year’s new moon energies, and so, continuing on from my Christmas mantra of “Stop, Reconnect, Reset”, I am now focused on Reset.

2019 has been termed by many as a RESET year, and I sense much will come up for a review and a reconsidering of , what one does, how one lives and works and even where for some.

I spent my annual Christmas sojourn in New Zealand with family and friends in one of my favourite nurturing spots in The Banks Peninsula. Interestingly, many things have come up for reset for me during these past five weeks since my return. Some of these things were of my own making and, others not. The process started during my sojourn in New Zealand, where I was able to stop, reconnect, realign and reset.

Reset

A conscious process with palpable results.

One of the resets which was not ‘of my own making’ has involved a large financial institution who closed my bank account without notice, because I did not fit their “criteria” as a business customer. The notable part in this situation was the manner in which I responded to get the right outcome for me (including accessing my funds).

In truth, I had been rethinking and reconsidering my relationship with this bank for the past 3 years, probably longer, as I knew they were not aligned to my ‘values’. Whatever the excuses, I had not put the intention in to action – the idea of changing all those direct debits was daunting enough! My personal banking reset coincided with the release of the Royal Banking Commission reports here, in Australia. My ex-Bank were not reviewed in the royal commission as they are a so called ‘global’ bank. My experience would suggest that they should be. New banking accounts are now set up.

The process actually was not so difficult.

In fact, the new bank could not have been more helpful and accommodating.

When you are clear about your values, know your purpose – what you want and how you want it, things seem to flow.

Filtering out the noise is a key factor for the 2019 year of ‘Reset’. The energies are changing. New ways, based on ‘sound’ ethical and equitable principles are going to be at the core of these shifts. The reset will call for increased discernment and ‘considered’ thinking as this push/pull, hard right and progressives , continue to invade our space – particularly in the media.

Considered thinking and discernment will be an important and sometimes challenging context in which leaders will need to navigate. We see this as tapping into one’s creativity, more so than transformational.

How do you tap into your creativity?

There are three steps:

Destroy the Past – to unleash the full creative potential of the mind, you must first destroy the forms and assumptions that stand in the way of moving forward.

Preserving the Present – safeguard the best of what’s already working and continue to develop and streamline it. This will ensure your business or purpose continues to thrive, even as you experiment, innovate and evolve into the future.

Re-Imagining the Future – to truly innovate and live at your creative edge, you must be willing to get curious and go back to the drawing board as often as is needed and move forward through experimentation and iterations of progress.

Creative energy lives at the intersection of structure and unpredictability and the visible and invisible.

Perfectionism, control and linear planning kill creativity stone dead.

We have to think differently, act differently, stand up and be courageous in not taking the easy way out.

The key is how do we come back to the Truth, Our Truth and Stand Tall in who we BE and what we DO?.

It is possible. I worked with a truly global leader last week. He , sees that wherever he is, he is the ‘steward’ for his team, enabling them to “think outside the box”. Raised in India, seven years in Japan, two years based in Paris working across Europe, two years in The Netherlands, and four years in Australia, and now off to Germany.

This leader knows who he is,no matter where he s living. He, has a clear sense of his purpose, and a willingness to explore new opportunities creatively. Perhaps most importantly, he is also thinking of how he can increase the value of his company, and not just himself.

As I mentioned in Decembers blog: ” where you feel a connection to the energy” can also pertain to how you feel a connection to what is important to you and in how you ‘stand tall’.

It is important to: Stop, Step off, Reflect, Reconnect and Reset.

For 2019, I add the words ‘reconsider’ and ‘re-evaluate’ as you filter through the noise and evaluate what you pay attention to, how you set your intentions and what the actions you take.

Start the lunar New Year in the ‘right’ energies that support you to Stand Tall and focus on Who and How you want to BE.

• What is your ‘filter’ that allows you to stay true to your purpose?

• How could you embrace your ‘creativity’ to innovate and live at your creative edge?

• How are you working on your deeper sense of self so you stand tall?
