EMBEDDING NEW PATTERNS – how do you get from inclination to action?

In last month’s post I spoke of patterns which, as we know, are so easy to accumulate and often so difficult to remove.

So how do we embed NEW patterns?
It is important to identify the three parts of the patterns:
1) right actions
2) right intentions
3) right thoughts
Managing the ‘self-talk’ is often the hardest as it comes from a strong driver within us.

We grow when there is no other choice for us but to grow.

When we know that the patterns that have been running us have served their purpose, or have exceeded their usefulness it is time to take steps to initiate new patterns. This process is made easier when we own our shadow – or in basic terms, have a good level of personal insight into who we are and how we stand.

The process of embedding new patterns requires us to take ‘self’ out of the equation, and consider the greater context of what is truly important to us, and to those we serve.
Let me explain. Recently many people I interact with – either as clients or colleagues have mentioned a sense of ‘stuck-ness’ or even retrograde energy in their personal and professional dealings. Most have felt that something major needs to change and were looking for actions to take, in both career and personal life. A feeling that they needed to move toward a state which aligned more closely with their most deeply felt values.

There have been issues regarding habits of thought and deed – perhaps even important parts of our standard operating procedures – that have been brought forward for introspective review and questioning these past few months. This is positive, necessary and indeed integral to pattern reshaping. The process of introspective review and questioning allows us to integrate the new information gained, build and embed new patterns and move on with our lives.

The aim is to become comfortable in who weare, armed with the knowledge that our shadows do not run us. This can only happen once we are consciously aware of our shadows, and choose to acknowledge how they result in patterns and how encompassing they may have been.

So what is the upside of embedding new patterns?

As we embrace the changes in our story, recognise and own our shadows, reshape our limiting patterns and embed new and improved patterns we will likely notice a rebellious or highly creative energy surrounding the way we communicate or express ourselves. The new patterns impact changes at the roots of our very being.

Why does this happen?
This highly creative energy or even rebelliousness, occurs as we are operating (coming from) our true sense of of our deeper self. No shadows holding us back so a feeling of expansion and freedom.

The last few months have certainly been a time of reflection, change and possibly confrontation or frustration which is a good indicator that one is poised for a breakthrough, or a “pattern interrupt”. Remember, we only tend to grow when there is no other choice.
A pattern interrupt is followed by a period of implementation, integration and completion as we embed the new patterns that will ultimately serve us better.

Politics in Action

We have certainly seen this on the political scene here in Australia and in many countries around the globe. Leaders are increasingly being scrutinised more acutely, with little error for wrong choices.

It’s never easy to make the right choice because the right choice is so often the “hard” choice. And yet, even the hard choices can be made, or communicated to others, with grace, compassion, and sensitivity, and that’s the kind of energy you will need to embody at this time – of embedding new patterns.

• What is it that holds you back?
• What can you do to unlock the stuck places within you?

Possibly “freedom from the know” – trusting in the unknown – now that would be an exciting journey to enable one to Stand Tall.

Are you ready to take the next step? Come on the journey to grow.
